There is little that is worse that a project manager - unless it's two project managers.

Officially it’s one week today that we move, we’re now officially moving into panic mode. The equipment is currently being virtualised, dismantled and packed at an increasingly frenetic rate. Just to increase the work load, every one remaining at work during the Easter holidays has decided that they are project managers and that someone else will do all the work. Still I’m pretty sure that most of this will all happen when it’s meant to, even if it will be a major panic on the day.

There have been a couple of minor problems up to this point but so far no show stoppers, the main concern has been a recent backup failure – this was a major issue and went un-noticed for two weeks! But seems to have been mostly resolved, just for reference – I didn’t notice the failures either. Still we have seven working days up to the move to resolve any further issues and any backup failures after next Wednesday will be a major problem and will increase the risk significantly.

So we are on the run into the move and seem to have multiple project managers, so what could possibly go wrong I ask. I’m just wondering if I’ll have time to practice the headless chicken dance, just to make sure that I get the footwork right on the day. Who cares how the job goes – just as long as it’s up top for thinking and down below for dancing.
