When I started in this line of work I was quite easy going, gradually over the years I have become more bitter and twisted. In some 25 years in this line of work I have had to deal with thousands of users, the most useful feedback that I can supply is that there are very few users that have a higher IQ than that exhibited by a garden pea.
Here’s a stunning representation of the illustrious leader of our organization, he’s honorable, progressive, short sighted and wouldn’t know if there was a shortfall in strategic planning. Right up until he didn’t get his airline ticket for the trip to the south of France, to check out some local scheme for producing free energy from recycled waste porridge. He is a shining example to his staff, I lead knowing that they follow. The path is sometimes difficult, the pitfalls are many but the rewards are magnificent. An index linked final salary pension, topped up to the extent that the pension will be worth more than my not inconsiderable salary he said.
Our illustrious leader presides over his domain, his decisions have repercussions that can be felt in several countries. These include but are not limited to Denmark, Iceland, Greece, Germany, Spain, France, The United Kingdom and the Check Republic. He has a team of people working for him, they are all consummate professionals with such useful qualifications as conversational Japanese.
The leaders that we have are capable of a robust defense of their position, they understand that there will be opposition to their position from many quarters. One of the things that they fail to grasp is that the opposition is just not jobsworth complaining, but genuine concern for the future of the company and the most cost effective way of doing things may not actually be the cheapest way of doing things.
The advisory team that the illustrious leader relies on, fully aware of every aspect of the IT industry checking that every thing that arrives says IBM. Well no one ever made a mistake by recommending IBM – did they?
The technology is the one that Apple has just given up on, just because they wanted too – not because it had reached it’s limits. I’d buy IBM as well if I was set for a trip to Montpellier to check it out, just because that’s the best place to check it out you understand. There are other vendors available, but they don’t have test facilities in such nice locations. I mean, how exciting is a trip to Camberly or Livingstone really.
The illustrious leader is well informed, he knows that there are computers in the organization. He is also aware that the most interesting web sites are banned, due to the security policy. Not that he has very much time to surf the web, mainly due to business commitments.
The board of directors are well known for their thorough and methodical approach to any problem, they work in harmony to make all our lives better. When a tough decision has to be made, they have an industry standard way of doing things – they delegate! However things could be much worse, they could be diligent – in which case we’d be right in the poo a circumstance that I’m glad to say has been avoided.
As an example and because this lot can be outsmarted by a frozen pea, we have invested heavily in an antiquated data center when we have several purpose built state of the art ones lying empty and unused. But we are lucky, our middle management can deal with this lot easily just by filtering the information that reaches them and allowing them to make the wrong decisions.
