The past couple of days have been a little traumatic, I was told the some one in the Unix team – while in the server room removing some old servers from the rack. Was making an effort to unscrew the server retaining screws with a power screw driver, you know the ones – the big ones with the trigger on the pistol grip. It would seem that this was a bit awkward, so using two hands he was managing to turn the screw in an anticlockwise direction – once it was pointed out that it was a power driver he did manage to work out that the trigger did in fact make it unscrew the screws. The excuse that he gave for not being able to operate the power driver was that he didn’t have his glasses on, not much of an excuse – but the best he had to offer at the time. I would also like to point out that this Systems Admin is for the most part the perpetual owner of the Sombrero.
I was also told about the project manager that we have who lost her works supplied mobile phone, when some one suggested that she called it – she was disappointed that when she answered it the caller had hung up! You may think that I exaggerate but I assure you both these examples are true, still when you are a contractor you just have to take the rough with the smooth. I have in the past heard many excuses for people with these abilities, many of them not very complementary – however I have yet to find one that is credible.
Still here we are about to enter the festive season, I’m sure that there will be some thing that will amuse – it’s what happens when you work with small furry creatures that have been conjured up by some one with a great imagination!
