Well today brings the week to a close for most of us, with a new one starting Monday. However in these harsh economic times there are some difficult decisions to be made, there was a decision to enact a cost saving regime – hence the decommissioning of Julian.
There was no pomp or circumstance, just general sighs of relief when the announcement was made that his contract wasn’t being renewed. He brought in the mandatory chocolates and biscuits, said his goodbyes and as usual knocked off early.
I for one will miss his twice a week visits to have an account unlocked, or to ask some really dumb question that as an ex sysadmin he should have known. But I guess that that’s why he became a programmer, it’s his niche in life. I’ll also miss hearing him squeak past in his Jesus sandals, with color coordinated port and starboard socks on.
Still things have to move forward and next week I’m sure will bring more fun, there just won’t be so many people to share in it.
