Today we had an email from one our colleagues in an other country, the email was prompted after one of the UK systems admins had been asked to reset an FTP password.
The contents of the email were almost unintelligeble, but the gist was you bolloxed up and I’m not happy. There was not realy any further explanation as to how the admin had screwed up, just that he had. A request for further information has been issued and we will see what the answer brings. The rest of the day went OK, there were groans and laughter when I told people about the Blu-Tack from yesterday. Although in the main people just went on as normal, nobody seemed to be overly concerned. This as I said was the main link between one of our primary sites and it’s DR site, this link carries a huge traffic load so an outage would be catastrophic.
Still here we are in our brave new world, we have the best of facilities. Whether we have the abilities to match and the will to pursue the objectives that are laid down for us – we will see. The next few weeks are likely to have some serious challenges for us as an organisation, but I’m sure that people will rise to the occasion. After all it’s a brave new world – there was a story about that by a guy named Huxley.
