How boring can you make a meeting?
The possibilities for boring people in meetings are almost endless, think I’m kidding. Today during a meeting I managed to fall asleep, not something that covers me in glory I know – especially as I am the technical lead. But as the saying goes S#!t Happens, luckily I hadn’t turned my mobile to silent and a call woke me up – the first time I have ever been pleased someone called me about a prepaid funeral plan!
When I started this project I was bright eyed and bushy tailed, now I am bored as there’s been so much paper work and nothing to show for it – not even a scope of work. The cloud provider that we are doing the work for seems to have a real issue with the concept of shared infrastructure, they don’t seem to understand that when you have multiple clients using that shared infrastructure there are times when the risk applies to all the clients like a SAN switch upgrade or or firewall changes. And that when you have different teams administering the same infrastructure that things can and will go wrong.
I just hope that the message that we are sending gets through to the people that do understand what it means in real life terms, especially when someone in one of the meetings was keen to have a recipient for blame if things do actually go wrong.
Still my management are sending the message, we’ll take it all! I just hope that that attitude extends to the blame!
