So an other contract starts on the 29th of July for six months, what will I be doing in this new position? I will be providing some BAU support and for the rest of the time I will be relocating the server room, does this sound familiar to any one? I was on site for the interview for two and a bit hours and still have to answer a technical question, but they decided that they wanted me anyway – probably because I’m a little ray of sunshine.
There is a general feeling of doom and gloom around the office, although the office was bright and airy and the people that I met were all really nice. They all know what my job will be, I’ll be there to close the data centre and relocate the equipment to a new location. So some people will object and others won’t, still I have worked in this type of environment before and survived.
So now we have the interminable form filling and contract reading, before the job kicks off. It just gets my goat that the contract people who negotiate a contract between two companies, are prepared to expose the end client to significant financial risk by treating the contractor as a prospective employee. These things are just sent to test us, so I’ll just have to get on with it.
Anyway I’m looking forward to getting started, so here we go again. With a whole new set of Muppets!
