I’ve been mortally wounded by one of my ex colleagues, he was I thought a nice guy – even if he was a DBA. But he posted a comment on facebook, not here in my blog – the comment could be construed as non complimentary (I may give him the benefit of the doubt here, but drinkies may have to change hands first) but then maybe there is a chance that he was being cynical? After all he has had many years exposure to the foibles of users as well, I’m sure he has been luck enough to be exposed to users at the upper end of the intellectual scale – you know the ones that can determine that the door opens in the other direction after just two or three attempts.
Still in order to avoid any problems in the future I would refer him to this
“>Youtube Video, it’s one of the reasons that you need systems administrators – like it or not. We are just an affable bunch of techno geeks that are the defenders of the technology, or maybe that should read the despoilers of the technology – after this week who cares! Once the systems administrator was consulted about how the systems should perform, his input was valued and some people actually listened to what he had to say.
Now it seems that you get an IT Consultant free with each PC that gets put on a desk, even the DBA’s seem to have something to say about the system setup – it’s not that we don’t value the input that they have. No I lie it’s just that, cause we don’t value the input – and when it boils down to it we find out who need who then?
