Ha Ha - I dance on the wires No?

Here I am sitting in the Kitchen, about to call it a night and head off to bed. Tomorrow I have to go to one of the other offices for a conference call with my European colleagues, this is to plan an outage for some upgrades and patching etc. These servers are to be patched for the first time in two years and although there are no problems fore seen, it’s generally true that that bloke Murphy was an optimist and you can just never tell!

The deployment of the applications to Europe has continued apace and there are a couple of big applications going over in the next week, then the work will start to really ramp up with sometimes two or three applications per week going over. It is still unlikely that the target date will be met but, the chances are that we won’t be too far off the mark on the time estimates.

This work has been quite interesting and the problems have been fairly minor until today, where we had a full run away situation on a server – the system became totally unusable and effectively had to be powered off and back on. As a result I’ve just spent a wonderful evening reading about capping resource available on the system, still I’m sure that it’ll stand me in good stead for some thing in the future – unless of course I win the lottery in which case you can all bugger off. I’ll be the person calling you from a beach in the Bahamas and laughing bits of my anatomy off.
