In the office today, a quick view of the world for the checks – not much happening here and then the task of checking and closing calls in the service tool that we use. Each time a change is raised there are a number of tasks associated with it, these vary in numbers depending on what the change is but look to average around 20. So with around 75 changes raised there were around 1500 tasks to close, I managed to close around 300 today and might manage about the same tomorrow as I have a bit of work to do in the office in the morning after the checks. Still I’d not be too happy if I had to do something that might be interesting, as it would distract me from the monotony of having to close all these tasks. Still I have become quite proficient at closing the tasks and by the end of tomorrow I’ll probably be a real expert, with probably an other hundred or more of the changes to be raised it’s likely that I’ll be a real expert soon. In fact I’ll probably be able to close the calls in my sleep, at the rate of lots per hour!
On the up side one of my ex colleagues came back from the United States today, he has been there for the past six months and has had a great time. He did arrive back just in time for the weather to turn, so I’m guessing that he’ll be looking forward to going back near the end of the year. He was telling me how cheap the trailers now are in the trailer park where he stays, I might be looking at getting one for myself – well you never know. I could close tasks down from over there just as easilly as I cn close them down from here.
