Now there’s a surprise!

Jeez I must be getting old, the be nice to the idiot pills don’t work so well any more. Twice today I started to get ready to commit “Muppeticide”but I managed to keep my cool. The first visitor had a problem with crontab quite a simple one as it turns out, he didn’t “understand”it – when you have a month in the entry it will only run that month. There was a period of some pain while I explained that month number 11 is in fact November. The next candidate – who I might add had some unpronounceable name, like “Rang’ftang Biscuit Barrel” that’s pretty close I think. Was upset because I hadn’t moved a file in the time taken between hitting the send key for the email and walking to my desk a distance of about 30 meters. Still after that the day improved, yet an other conference call with the German colleagues went off very well. The decisions were made, the actions assigned and all wrapped up in an hour. The delivery date for the second tranche of our new servers was announced as the 19th of November and everything is starting to gather momentum.

Now if only I had confidence in having a project manager who doesn’t have a project plan, a relocation manager who doesn’t know where the locations are and a business liason team who think that they work for the customer and not the vendor all would be joy in the mechanical garden.
