There’s always the unexpected!
Well a team meeting was held on the 16th of October, none of your Micky Mouse meetings here – the room was booked from 08:00 to 18:00. So what did we discuss during this meeting, well it beats me – I guessed with seven managers and three techies in the team there would have been plenty of opportunity to listen. But I think I slept through the interesting stuff, suffice to say that all the managers had lots of nice things to say, leaving no time for any sensible technical discussion.

One of the major aims was certainly be the reduction in the time that the data transfers take, especially if we have to fit the whole project into four hours (this was eight hours – but that was deemed to easy to achieve). So in the best management traditions, the managers all went out on a data gathering expedition and with great effort managed to speak to everyone who knew nothing about the practicalities of data migration.

This project is due to draw to a close at the end of March, I suspect that this will slip a little – but you can be sure of one thing. The project will complete, it will be pushed forward and will achieve it’s objectives as there is a lot of money at stake. Still at least I don’t seem to have to deal with users in this contract.
