In line with most companies in the information technology game, we have decided to keep one step ahead of the bad guys if we can. The current status is that we have decided to implement a new security system, this is a card based system where certain users can have access to systems admin functions from their own screen.
To be honest with you this is a pretty awesome system, however one of the things that has been overlooked is that in a support environment – you have to have all the users using card readers as it precludes the option of the systems administrator doing things from any workstation but their own or one fitted with a card reader. This may not be such a big deal when you sit a couple of desks away, however when you work out of various offices and require to take a card reader and a copy of the drivers with you it’s a royal pain in the ass.
