So you'd like my Bank Details then!

Today in the office left me feeling a little more positive than the tail end of last week, possibly because there was not a great deal to do last week and there was time to dwell on certain things. Anyway the day passed well enough and I managed to get a couple of the bigger tasks out the way, ending the day by destroying a machine and all the data contained therein – the machine is now fit for use as a paper weight.

On arriving back at my accommodation I started the checks of the old personal email accounts, during the course of this I find that there is a nice but very insistent gentleman from Hong Kong who is trying to give me some money. He has been trying very hard to get in touch with me, but without much luck as I’ve been in the office all day. There you go that’s work for you, the Irish are right it is the curse of the drinking classes.

Still so as to foster good international relations and as his email was to the point, I’ve decided to get in touch with him and see what he wants to do to give me this money. To that end I’ll include his email below;

I am Mr Patrick Chan executive manager of Hang Seng Bank based in Hong Kong. I have business deal worth $16.7M contact me via email: pchanik@yahoo.com.hk for details

That is the full email including all punctuation, so I’ll send an equally terse reply “Bugger Off” comes to mind but I’m in a good mood so I feel a wind up starting. My response is below, I’ll keep everyone posted.

Hello Mr Chan,
As a business man of some standing myself, I would be interested in your business deal - especially if there is that much money involved.
Regards

Dave Munro

So off we go on a Phishing expedition, we’ll just have to see what the response is. I’ll have to hope that I don’t disappoint him he’s obviously trying to get more business for the Hang Seng bank, I bet they are fully behind this nice, educated, polite and not very verbose chinese gentleman. Oh well, all in all a better day – so far!
