An other Day an other Dollar!

 This morning I checked the problem I’d has the previous day to find that it had croaked twice more, once during the night and once in the morning. During my look around the system I could see that someone had placed a script to correct the problem on both servers, the script was a pretty simple affair and could have been knocked together at short notice.

But when someone puts a script like that together, it’s generally because they expect to have to use it more than once. So there may well be a related issue here that we are unaware of, of course I could just be getting paranoid in my old age. The problem if it persists will have to be investigated, where possible preventative measures will have to be implemented. I’d like to see how the whole thing hangs together, the files that were dumped in a log directory all had the same format and all seemed to relate to HTML formatting of the output emails – but that might just be a wild guess.

I did manage to get some of the planned work done this afternoon, although I’m now about a day and a half behind on the stuff I wanted to do. It will take me a while to catch up, as I expect that the rate of catching up will in reality just be a few hours a week. Still it all adds up and as they said in the olden days – An other Day an other Dollar.
