Today I made it into the office at a reasonable time, but I still had trouble finding a parking space amongst the two meter high piles of snow. Along with the abandoned cars in the car park and the universally adopted practice of leaving not quite enough room between each parked car and it’s neighbour to fit an othe car in, the capacity of the car park seemed to be only about half of normal.

Two of my colleagues on the other hand have gone to Neurath in Germany, this is looking like being an interesting trip for them. There have been two incidents so far, the first was the inability to convince the Sat-Nav that it should communicate in English (well Yorkshire actually). It’s just as well that the language of the Sat-Nav is German, as it’s likely that by the time directions had been explained in the Yorkshire dialect as they’d probably be hearing a lot of “Chuffin’ eck! Gang T’other way!”

The email message was signed “An idiot abroad”, was this a precursor to the rest of the trip I wondered. My concerns were raised further when the email arrived asking for the address that they were travelling to, I had decided prior to the trip that these guys were an unlikely pairing – but no more unlikely than Bob Hope and Bing Crosby were.

I am looking forward to the continuing emails from my colleagues, there are bound to be some other minor incidents and with a little luck there could at least be one other blog entry here.

I mean there’s not much scope for confusion here, what with a Geordie translating Yorkshire into German – what could possibly go wrong!
